Lady Bay Music Community Interest Company is all about creating music together in the Lady Bay area of Nottinghamshire and beyond – supporting a community where music is composed, rehearsed, improvised and performed in all sorts of different ways. Our activities include music groups, ensembles, workshops, talks and children’s activities that are designed to engage our community in participatory music-making.
We want Lady Bay and surrounding areas to become a beacon – a musically-active intergenerational community supporting young people to develop their own musical interests and abilities.

We welcome people who are at different stages on their musical journey – from those just learning to play, to those who have not played for years, to others who are more experienced. Our established groups include the Soul Collective – a 25-piece band, playing jazz, soul and funk, while our Music Ensemble of about 30 musicians plays an eclectic repertoire of classical and modern music.
We have found that our activities have had a positive impact upon individuals and community. Members talk about a feeling of well-being, having a sense of belonging, enjoying meeting new people, learning new skills and being able to contribute positively to the area.
Lady Bay Music CIC* was set up in early 2026 in order to raise greater awareness of our range of activities, bolster fundraising, create networks of local teachers and instrument repositories, and ensure future sustainability.
*A Community Interest Company is a type of limited company designed for social enterprises. The purpose of a CIC is primarily one of community benefit.
